Proceeded to unit, 9 February 1917; taken on strength of 48th Battalion in the field, 10 February 1917. Posted as missing in action, 11 April 1917. Court of Enquiry, held in the field, pronounces fate as 'Killed in Action, 11 April 1917 on the Hindenberg Line near Bullecourt Village. Sergeant 16th Battalion Born in Perth, Western Australia Son of Walter Parham & Lilly Jane Dalziell of Maddington Western Australia A Basketmaker, aged 18 years, he enlisted on 17 June 1915 at Blackboy Hill, Western Australia and embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia, per HMAT Anchises on 2 September 1915 He served at Gallipoli and France. Wounded on 2 occassions in France Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For gallantry during the period 17 September, 31 December, 1918. Prior to the attack against Le Verguier, on 18 September, when acting as patrol leader, he obtained very reliable information as to the enemy positions, which proved invaluable, and helped materially in the success of the operation, in which he took part. He then led his men to their objective with a minimum of loss.' Transferred to 51st Battalion 29 February 1916, taken on strength of 51st Battalion, Tel el Kebir, 1 March 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 5 June 1916, disembarked Marseilles, France, 12 June 1916. Killed in action, 14/16 August 1916 at Pozieres, France.
